A very diverse underwater life in Cuba

The National Park Guanahacabibes peninsula located in the most western province of the island, Pinar del Rio, displaying a varied marine life. As reported by experts from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) were found between the various species found: 38 of corals, 637 marine mollusk, 38 coral and 109 algae.
An inventory of coastal fauna showed the health of coral reefs. The study also identified seven bands, including a strict conservation where research is allowed only due to the predominance of black coral, and for being a favorite spot for snapper and sea to spawn.
Plants and coral banks give peculiar attraction to the soil than 100 miles long and a width ranging between six and 34, also listed as relevant issuing facility Caribbean species larvae and Caribbean toward the Gulf of Mexico and North America.
This check of biodiversity, in 2008 after the effects of hurricanes Gustav and Ike, among others, fall within the purposes of marine conservation, which project to include in the National System of Protected Areas of at least 15 percent of insular platform, among other things.
