Since last December is in Infomed, the premier health care in Cuba, a website devoted exclusively to oncology, the idea arose in the VI National Cancer Workshop was held over year in the Molecular Immunology Center (CIM).
The show, created by the National Oncology Group and the Cuban Society of that specialty, Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine, along with Infomed, published an update on the medical branch, in order to contribute to training and professional improvement.
 In addition, disclose the achievements of the island, guidelines and actions of the Comprehensive Cancer Control, Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), and will become a forum for scientific debate, which will be welcomed by contributions, collaborations and suggestions aimed at improve it.
 Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Oncology, evaluate the actions of said program developed this year, bring actions for binational collaboration Brazil-Cuba and discuss the plan in 2012, were the targets of the national workshop that was held in the past dicimebre CIM with participation of scientists and academics.
 Dr. Teresa Romero, coordinator of the Comprehensive Cancer Control, said that among the strategies for the surveillance of the disease, cause of death in the island-are the prevention, screening and early detection, diagnosis and treatment, and palliative care.
 During the day provincial Oncology, Dr. Agustin Lage Sciences, director of the CIM, said the impact of the scientific for the prevention of this evil and said the tests performed.
 Between them stands the neck cytology to detect cervical cancer-genetic studies and PSA, the latter designed to discover abnormalities in the prostate, one of the most common tumors in men.
 Meant the development of monoclonal antibodies and vaccines, such as CimaVax-EGF, one of its kind in the world against advanced lung cancer and applied to more than two thousand Cubans, with remarkable results.
 Lage said Cuba is in a position that biotechnology can have an impact on the control program of the disease, from primary health care.
 In 2010, the insula registered more than 22 000 deaths from cancer-causing tumors, including nearly 12 000 women, according to the Statistical Yearbook of Health, the Ministry
