Red Cross lifeguards will be trained in Cuba

Since Cuba is threatened by hurricanes, natural disasters that cause human and material losses are not taken the necessary measures, the Cuban Red Cross has among its main objectives to prepare and train groups of relief operations and act against this type of situation , or to any other states involving alarm.
The goal is to teach people to deal with any type of disaster and reduce the risks, highlighted Juan Carlos Mendez, an official of the international society in Ciego de Avila, 430 kilometers east of Havana.
He noted that with this goal the project is Preparing Communities (PREC), which sponsored by the Norwegian Red Cross, successfully completed the third stage in municipalities of various provinces of Cuba.
The program prepares adults and children on a group of preventive measures to be taken before the occurrence of tropical cyclones, earthquakes, epidemics or other emergencies, he said.
To do this, he said, give lectures, workshops, lectures and deliver manuals about how to work with the occurrence of atmospheric phenomena, provide first aid, evacuation help, search and rescue and provide psychological support.
He said that already works in the preparation of the fourth stage of PRECO, which will be involved communities in the provinces of Pinar del Rio, Artemis, Villa Clara and Ciego de Avila.
The Red Cross is an international organization active in the world for his performance in relief of humans during natural disasters, mass migrations, epidemics, or large accidents.
For all these missions Cuba has the support of more than 20 000 volunteers who spontaneously provide help and solidarity in any place where they can be useful.
Currently the Cuban Red Cross has volunteers in various parts of the world as the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Haiti and other nations.
