The Casa de las Américas Awards were won by Argentina

On 26 January were Entrust in Havana literary awards Casa de las Americas 2012. The country with the most awards was Argentina, whose writers took three prizes and several honorable mentions. Intellectuals were also winners Brazil, Haiti, Peru, Ecuador and Cuba.
Havana, Jan 26 (EFE) .- Writers of Argentina won three awards and several mentions of the literary competition Casa de las Americas-2012 proclaimed today in Havana, and the winners were also intellectuals in Brazil, Haiti, Peru, Ecuador and Cuba.
In this edition of the award 53 works competed in the categories of drama, literature for children and youth, Brazilian literature and Caribbean literature in French or Creole.
Argentine writers and Laura Ignacio Apolo theater Gutmann won in the book "The Tao of Sex", valued by the jury as a text "audacious and original" that leads to dialogue with the universe of human relations.
Another author Argentina, Josefina Porcelli, won in literature for children and youth with his novel "My brother came from another planet a windy day," in which evaluators stressed the "sensitivity and skill narrative" that describes the difference physical loss of a loved one.
The book "Do not die" by Mariela Filkenstein, and "No dream," Charles Marianidis, both from Argentina, received mention in those genres in both fiction prize "José María Arguedas' went to his compatriot Ricardo Piglia .

The program was developed for eleven days with panels of scholars, conferences and presentation of the winners in 2011, including "The boot on the dead bull," the Cuban Emerio Medina Peña (story), and "Your Step", the Argentine Carlos Enrique Bischoff (testimonial literature).
Since its inception in 1959, after the triumph of the revolution led by the now former president Fidel Castro, Casa de las Americas Prize is considered one of the most historical awards and prestige in the region, and has received more than 25,000 original 52 countries.
