Six years of Cuban medical aid in Bolivia

In Santa Cruz, Bolivia, the event was held in commemoration of the six years since the Cuban Medical Brigade provided assistance in the South American country, attended by local and Cuban doctors.
Cuba Medical Brigade up to this anniversary of solidarity work with over 50 million free consultations to benefit the people, performed in over 500 medical offices and more than 30 comprehensive community hospitals spread over Bolivia's nine departments.
As part of the Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics "Henry Reeve" were to serve during a flood in the Amazonian department of Beni, and his work transcended into a comprehensive health program.
Orlando Luis Oliveros, national coordinator of the Brigade, said in an interview with Prensa Latina, Cuban specialists also provided care in six eye centers, which operated freely in the sight of more than 615 thousand Bolivians as well as from neighboring countries such as Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil and Peru.
The Cuban staff also participated in the study program for persons with disabilities, conducted in the highland nation as part of the Brigade Moto Mendez tripartite effort between Cuba, Bolivia and Venezuela.
In this context, technical and medical Caribbean visited one million families, which contacted more than five million Bolivians and detected about 82 thousand people with disabilities.
Cuban doctors are also engaged in the formation of about 600 thousand Bolivian students who will graduate doctors from this month with the help of Cuba solidarity and selfless.
Likewise, Cuban experts working on other tasks, such as genetic screening, the inclusion of physical rehabilitation wards and implementing new orthotics and prosthetics factories in Bolivia.
