The Cuban Grand Master Lazaro Bruzon already have space reserved for the fourth Latin American chess tournament was held in Quito from 13 to 23 April.

Bruzón, with a rating of two thousand 694 points and ranking second in Latin America, will play for the third time in such contests, which takes place every two years and have a unique competitive system.

The Caribbean won the inaugural tournament in 2006, when he beat in the final Spanish International Master Manuel Perez, who played host to a fight sponsored by the American Federation, founded in 2004.

Two years later, Bruzón intervened again in the contest, but won the title Grand Master (GM) Peruvian Julio Granda, who fought in the decisive match his Venezuelan counterpart Eduardo Iturrizaga in just shared by Mexico and Spain.

In the version of Mexico-2010, Cuba depended on the GM Omar Almeida, eliminated in the qualifying stage, and Brazilian Gilberto Milos was the headline ahead of Spanish Marc Narciso.

For the next edition, the organizers confirmed that there will be four qualifying groups with six contestants each to fend for the set of all against all.

In the final stage also includes four hexagonal, although purposefulness because only those entering the main pool will be eligible for the crown.

The leaders of each section qualifying and the two best results in a tie break which will involve all the second places will be decisive in that segment.

With think time of 90 minutes for the entire game and 30 seconds increment after each move, the results will be reported to the ranking and would be a good opportunity to Bruzón.
