The 3,000-seat Jules Verne Theater in Amiens, France, housed the debut of "Death and Rebirth", a symphony to honor Cmdr. Ernesto Che Guevara.
The piece by Argentinian composer Julio Cesar Pardo was masterly played by "Music in Utopia" Orchestra of young and veteran musicians with long career in France and Europe.
Split in four movements, the symphony reflects the Cuban-Argentinian guerrilla's life in la Sierra Maestra, his murder in Bolivia, the instant be comes a myth and the relation between Che's ideals and the Libertador Simon Bolivar.
At the end of the presentation, the orchestra accompanied a group of students from Amiens Conservatory who sang the progressive themes "The People United" of Chile and "Hasta siempre comandante," by late Cuban composer and song-writer Carlos Puebla.
Aleida Guevara, daughter of Cmdr. Ernesto Guevara, noted the importance of uniting in such beautiful project. "Forty-five years after his death, Che multiplies as an example."
Cuba Si France, the solidarity organization that co-organized the symphony's debut, announced a tour of Europe and Cuba.
Ambassador to France Orlando Requeijo highlights the warm welcome to the musical piece by hundreds of French people and fans from Belgium and Spain.
The Theater was built in the 19th Century when Verne worked as councillor in Amiens, north France.
Julio Cesar Pardo, composer of the symphony, and Jean Cornier author of several books on the Guerrillero Heroico, were the personalities who enjoyed the presentation along members of the diplomatic corp.
