Cuba Cancels Commemorative Stamp of Pope's Visit

A commemorative stamp on the occasion of the visit to Cuba of Pope Benedict XVI was cancelled in Havana at a ceremony attended by the Cuban Vice-President Esteban Lazo Hernández.
Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuba’s Foreign Minister, Archbishop Bruno
Musaró, apostolic nuncio in Cuba, Cardinal Jaime Ortega, Archbishop of
Havana, Eusebio Leal, Historian of Havana, and Silvia Monarris, Deputy
Minister of Informatics and Communications made the cancellation.
The stamp displays a picture of the meeting between the Pope and the Cuban
President Raul Castro Ruz during the reception to His Holiness in Santiago
de Cuba.
After the cancellation, the stamp will circulate nationally and
internationally.
Presiding also the ceremony were Caridad Diego Bello, head of the Office
of Attention to Religious Affairs of the Central Committee of the Cuban
Communist Party, and Homero Acosta Alvarez, secretary of the State Council.
Also present were members of the diplomatic corps in Cuba, church
officials, representatives of the Ministry of Information and
Communications and Foreign Ministry officials.
