Five boat people were on board on Monday of a Coast Guard of the United States after being rescued over the weekend by the crew of the cruiser Allure of the Seas, Royal Caribbean company, bound for Port Everglades near Fort Lauderdale.
"We have five Cuban migrants, three men and two women, all adults, on board a boat and we are investigating and until the investigation is concluded we can not say whether they will be returned to Cuba," said Coast Guard spokesman, Petty Jon -Paul Rios.
Under current U.S. policy known as foot / dry foot wet, most Cubans intercepted at sea are returned to Cuba, though some who are considered political refugees are taken to Guantanamo Bay where the U.S. authorities are seeking asylum in third countries.
