Cuba beat Japan in baseball by knockout 12-1 and got the classification for the semifinals of the tournament in Haarlem.
Cuba at last got to increase its batting power after two defeats and a victory over Chinese Taipei.
Cuba had its third baseman Yulieski Gourriel, first baseman Jose Dariel Abreu, catcher Ariel Pestano and outfielder Rusney Castillo as its best hitters, though almost every hitter had more than a hit or more in the match.
Left-handed pitcher Norberto Gonzalez was the winner after replacing starter Darien Nuñez, who pitched three innings without runs in the 5th.
Home run hitter Alfredo Despaigne was taken to the sixth place in the lineup, and Abreu was taken to the 5th place to look for more batting power.
Now Cuba should face the US or Puerto Rico, teams that have already beaten the Cuban team in this tournament.
