Cuba's Gaviota Hotel chain was presented with new offers and challenges to the Russian market in the 18th International Tourism Fair Leisure -2012, scheduled to conclude Saturday, with a large Latin American presence.
In this event we will analyze and update with Russian tour operators Gaviota´s offers, mainly in the keys of Villa Clara province, in Cayo Coco, Aurelio Portillo, Gaviota tour agency director of sales (for central provinces) told Prensa Latina.
This is a development to increase the tourist facilities, as extra-hotel villages, with food service, sports halls, nightclubs, bowling alleys and a dolphinarium in Cayo Santa Maria, with a marina enlarged with 200 new berths, he said.
At present, we have in Havana about 5,600 rooms, and for this winter another 122 to be opened by a high standard hotel to be operated by the Russian Blue Diamond Hotels chain, and the new hotel Piedra Movida, with 800 rooms, he said.
We first built the Playa Coco Hotel, at the beginning managed by Blue Bay chain and now by the Blue Diamond Hotels, which also operates another hotel, the Flamenco 1, Portillo noted.
The ambitious Cayo Coco project will continue its hotel development, but with the same format of Cayo Santa Maria: extra-hotel villages, marina, aquariums and other comforts for the tourists, he said.
During the fair, we discussed with Tierra Mar, Bideoglobus and Tez tour operators, with which we have traditional ties and represent significant increases in sending tourists to Cuba, he stressed.
The market prospects are very bright and not only show growth toward Cuba, but to Brazil, Mexico and the Dominican Republic, who are our competitors in the Caribbean area, he admitted.
Another goal at the fair was the presentation of a third international underwater event to be held from June 17 to 21 next year, the Imasub 2013, he said.
We also presented combined offers, because Russian tourism is concentrated in Varadero and Havana, so we are looking forward to taking advantage of a flight from Havana to Cayo Santa Maria with that purpose, said the Cuban manager.
