Cuba to Help Ecuador Expand Neurophysiology Service

Cuba proposed to expand Ecuador´s neurophysiology field research through teleconferences with Cuban-made software designed for this program, a time, money and workforce-saving technology. Dr. Rene Rodriguez, researcher and Assistant Professor at Havana's Centro de Neurociencias, told Prensa Latina the program will help explore every field of neurosciences and improve the quality of services and living standards countrywide, this time stressing on hearing loss or deficiency among the child population.
The device the Cuban firm Neuronic developed will help study patients nervous system, and check on epilepsy and sleep and psychiatric disorders, among other.
Along MD Catalina Vázquez, director of Baca Ortiz Pediatrics Hospital of Ecuador, and MD. Ricardo André, Advisor for the Public Health Ministry, plus other guests, MD. Rodriguez explained that Ecuador has a large number of patients with hearing and sight disorders, among other birth defects which were not included in the current research program.
Engineer Armando Baños said teleconferences and Cuban-developed software designed for this medical program allows distance repair of informatics glitches and safe transfer of clinic data, helping suppress the transportation of patients since exam and follow-up may be done through the Internet.
Cuban Engineers Maura Clavelles and Odeimys Romero participated in the demonstration of real-time Telemedicine connection, following request of Ecuador to demonstrate the technologyâ�Ös potentials and their eventual introduction in nine facilities.
In wrapping up the presentation, the team of Cuban experts reminded that early detection and treatment secures quality living standards and provides the physically impaired a cost-effective and quality health care and welfare.
