Cuban Team Loses against Japan Enroute to Baseball Classic

The Cuban baseball team lost 0-2 today against a team of stars of Japanese professional league, in a preparatory match for the III World Classic, played in the Japanese city of Fukuoka.
A total of seven Asian pitchers were combined to leave in just three hits the Cubans (Frederich Cepeda, Alexei Bell and Jose Miguel Fernandez), in the Sapporo Dome stadium.
The novice Takeru Imamura, 21, achieved the victory after allowing no runs in two innings of middle relief pitching, and the closer Shun Yamaguchi scored the saved game while working in the last episode.
For the hosts, the Japanese catcher Ginjiro Sumitani opened the scoring with a solo home run in the bottom of the second chapter that ultimately would be enough to give the victory to the Japanese, who took advantage of an error of the second base man Fernandez in the eight inning to make the second annotation.
The Cuban starter Yadier Pedroso took the loss after allowing the Sumitani�s home run in three innings and third.
Both teams will meet on Sunday in a last friendly encounter.
