The National Ballet of Cuba (BNC), directed by Alicia Alonso, will offer a special function on Thursday, dedicated to the orchestra director Enrique Gonzalez Mantici, one of the musicians closer to the prima ballerina and her company.

Right on the centenary of the birth of Mantici (Sagua la Grande, Villa Clara, 1912-Havana, 1974), the dance company will also remind the violinist and composer, who has among his works Quartet and Concerto no.1 for violin and orchestra.

For the occasion, the García Lorca Hall of the Great Theater of Havana, traditional seat of the BNC, will raise its curtains at 8:30 pm.

The program includes the ballets In the Shadows of a Waltz, Dialogue 4, Nutcracker (Waltz of the flowers and Grand pas de deux) and Lucía Jerez, three pieces choreographed by Alicia Alonso and the latest with music Enrique Gonzalez Mantici, designs of Frank Alvarez and original libretto Marruz Fina García.

Also, the public can enjoy Idyll, with Eduardo Blanco choreography and music by Luis Enrique Bakalov.

That way concludes the BNC artistic presentations in 2012, year of many successes, among them the celebration of the XXIII International Ballet Festival of Havana, the dance group presentations in international settings and the multiple awards Alicia received at home and abroad.
