The presence of natural places with rich, well protected wildlife in central Cuba attracts more than 200,000 tourists every year to the tourist destination Jardines del Rey.

Tours include lakes, forests, dunes and protected areas in the cays of northern Cuba and in the Great Swamp in northern Ciego de Avila and surrounding areas.

The Cubagua hill, La Redonda and de la Leche lakes, the San Pedro farm, the crocodile breeding center, and the Sierra Jatibonico Mountain Trail, in Florencia town, are some of the places of interest in the area.

Tourists, mainly from Canada and Britain, can enjoy here rides on horses, in cars, jeeps, nautical excursions, crocodile shows, trekking and other attractions notes.

Luis Alfaro Trujillo, Director of the Wildlife Protection Department in the territory, told Prensa Latina that a favourite place is Laguna de la Leche, the largest lake in Cuba, with an appropriate environment for tourism, water sports, fishing and hunting.
