The sixth of the ten cargo ships being built at the Shanghai shipyards for Cuba, as part of a joint project between the Caribbean nation and China, was delivered today during a ceremony at the port of that Chinese city.
The president of Shanghai Shipyards, Ma Shixiong, said that the China-Cuba project is a model of cooperation and a bridge of friendship between the two socialist developing nations.
The official said that China will continue strengthening links with Cuba and recalled the more than 50-year-old diplomatic relations between both nations.
For his part, Cuban Ambassador in China Alberto Blanco highlighted the strategic importance for trade and cooperative relations between Cuba and China that the building of those cargo ships represents.
This cooperation, added Blanco, is midway through its potential and is taking place amid the updating of the Cuban social and economic model.
