President Raul Castro Meets PAHO Director

President Raul Castro met in this capital Clarissa Etienne, director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), who is on a visit to this country.
'During the meeting held yesterday, Etienne learned Cuba's results on health matter, and expressed the PAHO's interest to continue promoting cooperation with the island.
The executive also stated that the Cuban nation is among the few in Latin America and the Caribbean that have accessible and free health services for all citizens.
During a news conference, the visitor praised the government's commitment to ensure primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare levels, resulted in the indicators achieved in the country.
Etienne highlighted the Cuban solidarity with other peoples of the world, noting that more than 30,000 collaborators are working in 59 countries, which means a great contribution to human welfare.
The expert listed the PAHO priorities for Latin America and the Caribbean, a region described as very diverse, and with many inequities, which should try to be solved.
Etienne arrived in the island Monday, July 8, and has since met with public health authorities, and carried out visits to scientific centers.
