With the customary midnight ceremony of people going around a ceiba tree in the place where it was found on Nov. 16, 1519, Havana residents and visitors celebrated the city's 494th anniversary.
The city has become very cosmopolitan, full of travellers from all around the world, wanting to know it deeply and forging a harmonious relationship with Havana residents in the only way possible: through cordiality.
Havana covers 732 square km and has 15 municipalities, nine of them urban. Its oldest portion covers 4.5 square km, 2.2. of them in the recreational-historical part.
