The 2013-2014 sugarcane harvest began in Cuba today, aimed at achieving the best results in the last decade.

Azcuba Vice President Noel Casañas recently stated that repairs were performed according to plan after receiving timely resources to solve the problems identified in the previous campaign.

Casañas explained that the objective is to concentrate on grinding cane thoroughly and not lose time, while still complying with the production plan for up to 1.8 million tons of sugar, a figure higher than that of the previous year.

The introduction of new equipment and increase of transportation capacity were among the mentioned improvements.
