Cuban female chess Great Master Yaniet Marrero is strongly training for her participation in the upcoming World Cup, said her coach Vivian Ramon.

"She is quite well, in shape, she is going to have very strong contenders, because of their ranking, but our aspiration is that she goes through more than one single round of the competition," said Ramon to Prensa Latina Wednesday.

According to Ramon, Marrero, gold medal winner for the third chessboard players at the 2010 World Chess Olympiad, has increased her opening repertoire, and will reach the competition at a much better level.

"When she plays as herself, without putting any violence on her playing style, Vivian can accomplish great things. When she has tried to be somebody else, things have not been too much well for her on the chessboard," said Ramon, one of the top female Great Masters in Latin America.

Ramon reiterated Cuban female chess is lacking institutional support for more competitions, especially in Europe, but she keeps confident on her student.

Marrero is the only Cuban female chess player that won the right to take part in the World Cup next year, when she won a classification tournament in El Salvador.
