Information exchange between Cuba and Belarus is the new weapon that both governments have taken to combat the "sensationalist" press.
Located in positions 157 and 170 in the world ranking of press freedom compiled by Reporters without Borders, Belarus and Cuba respectively, join forces to fight the media campaigns of sensations and misrepresentations that very often revolve around their governments.
Lidia S. Ananich, Information Minister of Belarus, met with Gerardo Suarez, Cuban ambassador to that country, to sign "an agreement should provide the exchange of visits by specialists in the field, journalists and publications of common interest".
Minister also explained that invitations exchanges will be made to the respective Book Fairs in February, and the Media-X International Forum, which will be held in May 2015 in Minsk, and other events.
Ananich and Suarez agreed on the "need to defend the national interests of each country against sanctions campaigns and distortions of reality by the major Western media networks that seek to impose their patterns in data".
