The port of Cienfuegos will undergo a major investment by the Ministry of Transportation for the construction of a modern cruise terminal. This type of tourism began in Cuba in 1996 and has been increasing, with some mishaps over the years.
In last August over 30 luxury cruise ships touched Cuban ports. This increase in cruise ship visits to ports on the island occurs in a few seasons, because Cuba in 2005 broke his contract with the Italian company Silares Caribbean Terminals, which managed the cruise on the Island. Nevertheless, the cruise industry has continued behaving as a worldwide phenomenon extremely competitive, moving hundreds of thousands of people in tourist travel.
Once completed the new Cienfuegos terminal is expected to receive 53 boats of this type, which are part of the plan for next season arrivals. The rise test in the revitalization of the cruise services MINTUR in Cienfuegos.
Of the 125 stops in Cuban ports during the last season, 28 were in the Olympia Medina, the inner harbor of Cienfuegos. This port is the second country rada its turnover.
Cienfuegos offers varied tourist attractions, which mainly concentrate on the bay, the music of the famous Benny Moré and the beauty of neoclassical city of the nineteenth century.
