Pinar del Río’s player Osniel Madera has been off the island for days, reports the newspaper El Nuevo Herald.
"Osniel Madera, Joel Rojas [and a third player] ... in recent days left to be here in his province and his baseball team and are out of the country," said a sports correspondent for Pinar del Rio sports program in Radio Rebelde.
Madera, 29, was the only player of the Cuban squad that did not get visa to participate in the Caribbean Series held in Puerto Rico.
First it had been reported that a group of five players, among whom was Alfredo Despaigne, had not received a visa, but after negotiations between the sports authorities and the Office of US Interests in Havana received permission.
According to the radio report, Madera had taken advantage of the days which took place Caribbean Series, won by Pinar del Río, to escape the country.
