Cuba´s oil company Cupet released a regional report on the potential of the Cuban Exclusive Economic Zone in the Gulf of Mexico and announced new projects in the oil-drilling sector, but they admitted that US companies have not shown interest in the offer, despite the thaw in relations with the United States.
While US tourism companies, and also transport and agriculture, are taking positions to establish their business in Cuba, oil companies show to be less anxious.
Cuba hopes the discovery of offshore oil is key not to continue depending on other countries, as currently its socialist ally Venezuela and previously the Soviet Union.
Cupet exploration director Rafael de Jesus Tenreyro, said new oil data will be presented at several international events
