Upon arrival at Jose Marti Airport in this capital last Sunday, French President Francois Hollande said he came to Cuba " with great emotion", where he will meet a program as part of the first official visit by a head of state of that nation to the Caribbean archipelago.
Hollande said that his visit has a symbolic value because "it is the first one by a president of the West" after December 17, 2014, when in a joint statement the leaders of Cuba and the United States , Raul Castro and Barack Obama, announced the start of a process to restore diplomatic relations.
As he said in a brief speech to journalists at the terminal, France will be a staunch ally of Cuba in its purposes of development and reintegration into the world economic context.
