The friendly regatta between American and Cuban athletes was held from noon until about 2 in the afternoon on Tuesday May 19, in the stretch between the Nacional Hotel and Deauville Hotel. The event was organized by the city hall of Key West in the US and Hemingway International Club in Cuba.
The regatta was won by representatives of the Cuban national team. The pair of Hobbies Cats 114 441 won the first and third race, while Hobbies 106504 won in the second competition.
Just a hundred spectators attended to enjoy the contest. The secrecy and lack of dissemination by the official media about the time and location of the event detracted lucidity. The national and international media discreetly showed up at the Havana seawall promenade.
