Josefina Vidal, director general of the U.S. division at Cuba's Foreign Ministry, announced today at the end of the fourth round of talks on restoring relations with the US that more meetings will be needed because there is no agreement on the reopening of embassies.
“Both delegations agreed to continue exchanges on issues concerning the functioning of diplomatic missions", said Vidal.
The United States wants its diplomats to have freedom of movement and the ability to meet with Cuban civil society, which is not stipulated for Washington representatives currently working in the US Interests Section.
Vidal explained that in conversations civil aviation, human trafficking, fraud and maritime issues were also discussed.
In future negotiations, the two delegations will discuss the complex issue of exchange of information in justice and police matters.
Similarly, they will address health and medicine matters, a sector of great interest to the United States.
