The Spanish footballer Raul, one of the historical players of Real Madrid CF, was surprised by the passion that soccer arouses in recent years in Cuba. 
"For me it was a big surprise (to see) the amount of people that recognized me, those who have stopped me wanting a picture", Raul said during his first visit to the island. 
The current New York Cosmos player arrived on Sunday to play a historic game of his club  with the Cuban national team.
Among Cubans there are "many fans of Real Madrid, and also a lot of fans of Barcelona FC", said Raul in a press conference in which he appeared alongside the legendary Brazilian player Pele.
"It is a country that lives soccer with passion, that especially follows the Spanish League with great interest", stated Raul. "I hope children to begin playing more soccer in a country like Cuba."
