The Brazilian star Pele expects Cuba to follow the footsteps of United States to develop its soccer and to be ready soon for the World Cup.
"Cuba will soon have a team in the World Cup, no doubt", Pele told his hosts.
The "king of soccer" accompanies the NY Cosmos as honorary president for a friendly match with the Cuban national team, a game that transcends sport because of the historical diplomatic rapprochement initiated by the governments of Washington and Havana in December.
"Cuba and the United States are making peace", also "O Rei" said. The Brazilian appeared at the first press conference of the Cosmos in Havana next to the Spanish Raul Gonzalez, Real Madrid FC historic player and current member of the team from New York .
The Spanish also celebrated his arrival in Cuba with the Cosmos. It is "my first time" on the island, recalled Raul, who believes that the match on Tuesday will be a "game with lots of history".
The NY Cosmos had its first training yesterday at Pedro Marrero Stadium in Havana, where they will face on Tuesday the Cuban national team.
