Twitter company does not want to lose the opportunity to grow in the Cuban market and for this it has begun to draw its development strategy in a country with a major obstacle: the lack of internet access.
According to the publication Politico, the expansion possibilities of this network in Cuba depends on enhancing its tweets service via text messaging, an option little-known but it is operational for years and is already used on the island.
Colin Crowell, vice president of global public policy of the company, met with officials from the Interests Section of Cuba in Washington to address this issue and try to find ways to expand its service in the country. For Twitter, the strategy for access to telecommunications in Cuba does not depend on the development of a network infrastructure -such as Google said in its recent visit to the island-but it bets on text messages for Cubans to tweet.
