In a productive meeting between Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Justice of the Asian nation who arrived in Cuba on Saturday June 20 and his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez, they both expressed their desire to increase and diversify the relations between the two nations, especially in the economic and political spheres.
The cooperation of the Asian country in the administration of the Mariel Special Development Zone port is being fruitful and encouraging. The links in biotechnology are equally healthy. 
An agreement on visa exemption was also signed between the two countries, which signed  diplomatic agreements on April 18, 1997, as a result of the meeting.
