The growth of international tourism in the first quarter of the year, coupled with greater local demand in the summer, is forcing authorities to consider a growth in accommodations that could reach 110,000 rooms by 2030.
The experts gathered these days in Havana at the 10th International Conference on Journalism and Tourism, headquartered at José Martí International Institute of Journalism, will also discuss the importance of foreign investment in the sector.
During the meeting, José Daniel Alonso, business director of the Ministry of Tourism, delved into the details of "the 101 new business opportunities for expanding and diversifying its hotel infrastructure", included in the portfolio of opportunities for foreign investment, according to the official press.
The event was attended by 70 professionals from 12 countries, including the United States, Ecuador, Colombia, Italy, Panama, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Honduras. This event is held annually under the auspices of the Association of Cuban Journalists and the participation of the tourist press circle.
