Carlos M. Gutierrez, former CEO of Kellogg Company and former Secretary of Commerce during the administration of President George W. Bush, said in an opinion article that the members of that political group must put aside past positions and join the steps that the White House is taking toward Cuba.
Almost every week a new Congress delegation arrives in Havana and I never expected that negotiations to come to where they are now, said the former official.
Gutierrez was cautiously optimistic regarding that negotiations can move forward, something that contrasts with plans by some Republican congressmen of obstructing the rapprochment, even cutting the funding for the State Department to open the US Embassy in Havana.
