The European Union (EU) and Cuba will hold tomorrow in Brussels the first meeting of the structured dialogue on human rights to determine the modalities of that part of their renewed relationship, including an agreement on political dialogue and cooperation. "Human rights are an essential element of relations between the European Union and Cuba, and the dialogue  will help both parties to  make progress in this  area",  the European Commission said in a statement.
It added that "the objective of this first meeting is to discuss the modalities on which the dialogue will continue as well as the principles of basic human rights in the context of various bilateral and multilateral thematic areas".
