Luis Cabrera, commercial director of Pro Mexico, a government agency promoting foreign trade, said on Tuesday in an interview that the initiative began long before the announcement of the United States and Cuba in December to restore diplomatic relations and work to normalize ties.
"We have seven more projects under consideration in Mariel and 15 others across the country, all of which were proposed long before December and it is expected that some of them will be approved soon," Cabrera said.
Mexico wrote off 70% of Cuba's debt of about $ 500 million in 2013 and appointed Juan José Bremer ambassador to Cuba, one of the highest ranking diplomats.
