The renowned cocktail competition Rey del Daiquirí (King of Daiquiri), organized by the Floridita restaurant in Havana, will acquire international nature from this, its seventh edition.
On July 23rd, the favorite drink of Papa Hemingway will be a new challenge, for the first time in the history of this competition, for bartenders from Cuba, Argentina, United States, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
According to Ariel Blanco, director of the Floridita, the meeting is synchronized with the 198th anniversary of the outstanding bar-restaurant located in the historic center of Havana .
Another innovation that the event brings is its extension until July 24, because the bartenders will give master classes on new trends of cocktail making in their nations.
Participants will also visit the grave of Constantine Ribalaigua Vert, former owner of the bar, who was the soul of this establishment from 1918 and a personal friend of Hemingway.
