The tour operator Apple Vacations will offer tour packages in Cuba from July 9, as announced the company president, Tim Mullen, in an interview for the publication Travel Weekly.
The services, which will be operated by the American Company Cuba Travel Services, will be under the program People-To-People within the 12 categories allowed to travel to the island due to the impossibility of doing so as a tourist yet.
According to Mullen, "the demand for travel to Cuba has been at record levels. We are proud to be one of the major tour operators to offer affordable and short packets to that country. Our agents have been asking for it." At the same time he warns that "there is a limited capacity to sell these trips to Cuba, so it will still not be one of the products of weight in our portfolio".
Because of the conditions, the tours will be for a maximum of 30 passengers per group and in charter flights from Miami and other US cities to Cuba with Sun Country Airlines, American Airlines and JetBlue.
For Mullen, "entering now in Cuba to the extent that we are allowed, that is, with these guided tours, it puts us in a position that enables us, when the current restrictions to be completely lifted, going to a wholesale sell of holiday travels to beach destinations."
