Ban Ki -moon welcomes restoration of relations between Cuba and USA

The restoration of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States as well as the opening of embassies in both countries is consistent with the principles of the UN, said its secretary -general Ban Ki-moon. In a statement issued by his office, Ban said that "in line with the principles of its charter, the UN supports efforts to promote harmonious and neighborly relations between states."
