Spanish hotel chains: countdown to settle in Cuba before the Americans

The tourism industry has been among the most favored and the most opened. Large hotel companies such as Hilton, Marriott, Wyndham, Choicehotels, have asked the Ministry of Tourism of Cuba, permits to establish their resorts.
Spanish hotel groups have already carved the way for an advantageous position in this new scenario.
According to statements by Iberostar, introduced in the island since 1998, this group has 10 hotel establishments on the island and aims to further enhance its presence and offering, focused on tourism source markets, especially in the United States.
For its part, the American hotel chain Airbnb, already in the Caribbean nation managing 2,000 private houses owners.
Cuba currently has 64,000 hotel beds. The Meliá chain ranks first with 12,300 of these, followed by Islazul and the Canadian Blue Diamond. Other significant on the island are Barceló, Belive and NH.
