Cuba will have to start a process of reintegration into the main worldwide multilateral economic organizations and the United States should contribute to that process, Carlos Gutierrez,  US former Secretary of Commerce said on Tuesday in the Atlantic Council reflections center in Washington.
In the opinion of Gutierrez, "America can do more to help Cuba to prepare for membership" of institutions like the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the Inter-American Development Bank.
"Cuba has not known the benefits of capital investment, low interest rates, technical assistance, things that can have a significant impact on the lives of Cubans" said Gutierrez.
Last June, Gutierrez surprised everyone by publishing a long article in The New York Times where he asked that his Republican Party and the American businessmen "abandon their obsession with the past and embrace a new approach to Cuba".
