Cuba denounced on Thursday the delaying tactics of some Western countries to prevent progress in the fight against racism and discrimination, according to Prensa Latina. The Cuban diplomat Claudia Perez remarked that some Western nations oppose the efforts of the South aimed at combating racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance.

This was expressed by intervening in the Ad Hoc Committee of the Human Rights Council of the UN to establish complementary rules to strengthen the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, which concludes tomorrow in Switzerland.
