US delegation received with opened arms 16 Cuban athletes that arrived in Los Angeles on Monday to participate in the Special Olympics World Summer Games, which begins on Saturday at the Memorial Coliseum in that city.
Cubans participate in badminton, beach volleyball, tennis, swimming and gymnastics during the games, which will take place in different areas of the city until August 2.
Cuban athletes, mostly teenagers, have used the facilities of the middle school Harvard-Westlake High School for training.
The executive director of the Chamber of Commerce, Esther Walker, who arrived from Cuba to the United States when she was four, said that everyone who comes into contact with the delegation will learn what she has always known: "People will see how grateful these athletes are to be here and participate in the games, and how wonderful Cubans are."
