Fidel Castro has used his 89th birthday to remember that in the view of Havana, US "owes Cuba the equivalent damage compensation" by the embargo.
Castro published an article in the official newspaper Granma 24 hours before US Secretary of State, John Kerry arrive in Havana, to lead the official opening ceremony of the embassy in Cuba.
The demand for compensation for the embargo is one of the points that the Cuban government reiterates in its negotiations with Washington. The "debt" rises "considerable millions of dollars" Castro said in his article, in which he once again presented himself as a defender of "peace and well-being of all human beings."
