Cuban President Raul Castro saw off Pope Francis at the Antonio Maceo International Airport in Santiago de Cuba, along top Cuban government and Church officials.
Thousands of Cubans stood by the sides of the road that His Holiness took from the city to the airport to say their farewells to the Pope that now departs for the United States after a four-day papal visit to Cuba.
The Pope had a tight agenda since his arrival from Rome last September 19, which included officiating Mass in three major Cuban cities, meetings with Cuban President Raul Castro and Revolution leader Fidel Castro, and Cuban religious persons.
