The United States pointed out on Monday that it has not yet made a decision on how to vote on the resolution that the UN General Assembly approves every year to demand the end of the embargo against Cuba, a measure that U.S. President Barack Obama has been requesting to the U.S. Congress for months.
The White House and the State Department avoided on Monday to confirm a report published by the U.S. press according to which the U.S. government is planning to abstain when the UN votes that resolution in October, instead of opposing it as it has been doing for the last 23 years, the Cubasi Web site reported.
We have not finished drafting the text of the resolution, so I cannot speculate on the position the administration will take, said White House spokesman Josh Earnest in his daily press conference.
