Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Cuban President Raul Castro, who praised the intervention of the head of the Kremlin before the UN General Assembly after 10 years of absence.
"His speech was applauded repeatedly," said Castro, who stressed the "differences" with previously speeches delivered by leaders of the United States, Barack Obama, and China, Xi Jinping, according to Russian news agencies.
For his part, Putin sent his best wishes to Fidel Castro and inquired about the health of the retired leader of the "Cuban revolution". Putin stressed that Russia and Cuba have in hand several projects in the energy, space and mechanical engineering industries.
In this regard, Castro stressed that relations between the two countries "are going well and thereafter will be strengthened."
