TS Joaquin becomes a hurricane over The Bahamas

Tropical storm Joaquin gained considerable strength in the last 24 hours, reaching the category of hurricane on Wednesday.
Now Joaquin is located at 24.9° North, 72.2° West, with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (75mph), a category 1 hurricane in the Saffir-Simpson scale (of five) and is moving towards the southwest at almost 10 kilometers per hour.
The minimum pressure has dropped to 971 mb, therefore is expected to continue gaining in strength and organization.
Forecasts put Hurricane Joaquin hitting the US East coast next Sunday or early Monday.
