"I'm here because (the governments of Cuba and the US) have to formalize relations and start learning from each other," said at a press conference in the US Embassy in Havana, Secretary of Commerce of United States Penny Pritzker.
Pritzker began Tuesday her first visit to Cuba and said she is hopeful that this week's meeting is the first of a series of meetings "through which we can better understand our systems."
"The fact is that in the US there is still much ignorance of Cuban economy in order to understand fully, and that's why I'm here," she said.
In the press conference, held on Wednesday night, the official said that her government is interested in changes to previous regulations of commerce, relax travel restrictions and encourage more business opportunities between US and Cuba companies.
