Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, Claudia Ruiz Massieu, arrives Monday to Cuba on her first official visit to the island.
During her stay in Havana, Ruiz Massieu will meet with her counterpart Bruno Rodriguez, and develop other activities, according to a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba reported on its website.
According to the Mexican foreign minister “Cuba occupies a special place in the foreign policy" of her country, whose president, Enrique Peña Nieto, has given priority to relaunch the bilateral relationship with the Caribbean country.
As a result of that effort, Massieu mentioned the restoration of high-level political dialogue and the signing of nine instruments that strengthen ties in areas such as trade, investment, energy, fisheries, air transport, customs and mining.
