Cuba opened a training course for experts with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in subjects related to mitigation of disaster risks in the event of natural phenomena.
The initiative is in tune with the commitment assumed during the latest Caricom Summit, held December 2014 in Havana. The training course, underway this week in the Cuban capital, is entitled "Approaches and Tools for Disaster Risk Management. The Cuban Experience.”
Cuban minister of Science, Technology and the Environment Elba Rosa Perez said the course is a good example to reiterate that despite economic shortenings and amidst the update of the Cuban economic model, the island maintains its commitment to cooperate and share its achievements with Caribbean nations.
